Mr. Stephen Dondolo is the CEO of APL, running the office and overseeing all APL investments.  He is supported by a General Manager, PA and a Receptionist.  Its investments are strategically grouped into the above three portfolios.  The rationale is to group all sector related investments together so as to inculcate a culture of synergising, systems integration and streamlining of business processes; and to ensure proper board representation and value-adding by APL board representation. 

We believe in business partnerships that benefit all partners.  APL has vast experience in initiating, developing and maintaining strong and profitable relationships with business partners and associates.  A key example is our investments in the Fishing Industry.  The role of the Chief Executive Officer is emphasized by the immense synergies that exist is the pooling of resources between the partners.

Pioneer Fishing is well vested with APL’s “4+1” strategy, which is based on operational excellence, cost reduction, capital stewardship and profitable growth.  APL exercises this superior strategy based on our vision, performance, people and values.  With Standard Bank and African Pioneer’s experience in the above, APL and prospective partners will find themselves in alignment with these fundamental business philosophies.

Glen Zamisa

Chairman

Sakhiwo G Zamisa (Chairman) - Mr.  Zamisa is currently and Training and Development Manager at Continental Tyre SA.  He has a wide experience and background in Human resource management, Industrial Engineering and Production Management having previously worked as the Human Resources Manager and Industrial Engineer at a number of companies including Ford Motor Company, Volkswagen South Africa and Nampak Corrugated.  He has been very intimately involved in a number of key areas of human resource development, training and transformation.  He has been closely involved in Skills Development Facilitation, introduction of Learnerships, Succession Planning and Employment Equity etc.

He is also an active participant in a number of black empowerment associations and is currently the Chairperson of BMF Eastern Cape and serves in the organisation’s national board.

He serves in Merseta structures and is chairperson of Cacadu Municipality Audit committee.  In addition, he also serves as Continental Tyre South Africa’s board secretary.

He holds several business Diplomas and an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch.  Currently, Sakhiwo is doing the Diploma in Company Direction through the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) and Institute of Directors (IOD).

Mzukisi Stephen Dondolo (Chief Executive Officer) - Mr.  Dondolo, an Eastern Cape businessman, was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by IMM in 1990 and the Business Partners Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002.  He has a degree in Business Administration and a Diploma in Marketing.  He has on two occasions been selected for the USA-SA-Leadership Exchange Programme, which enabled him to visit the United States and other countries. 

As a director of several businesses, he advises, leads, motivates and controls the development of a diverse portfolio of business and community interests.  He is a Director, council member and chairman of numerous boards and committees including the BKB Audit Committee.  He serves as a director on the board of the Coca Cola Fortune, a subsidiary of Coca Cola SABCO, and is chairman of Pioneer Fishing, the fouth largest fishing company in South Africa

Mr.  Dondolo has travelled extensively and has gained vast experience in new business development.  He is involved in various sporting organisations and community development programmes. 

   
Michael Hands
Michael Hands
Michael Hands - Michael Hands has Honours in Bachelor of Accounting Science from UNISA, is a registered accounting officer, and has been running a successful financial consultancy practice for the past five years, serving largely the development sector as well as small businesses.  Michael's extensive financial and administrative experience is founded on his completed articles, an array of contracts in London, and other commercial and developmental roles including positions as Financial Manager at Young & Rubicam and Financial Manager at the Social Change Assistance Trust (SCAT). 
   

Alfred da Costa
Alfred da Costa

Alfred da Costa is the former Chief Executive Officer of the Port Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PERCCI) and continues to serve as chamber’s representative on the South African Chamber of Business (SACOB) council. 

Other board appointments include serving as council member of the University of South Africa (UNISA), where he chairs the finance committee.  Alfred is an active board member of the JSE-listed Bidvest Group and its empowerment partner, Dinatla Investment Holdings.  Alfred serves on the Algoa FM board and is trustee of the Eastern Cape Job Creation Trust, also known as COMSEC. 

   
Nomkhitha Mfono
Nomkhitha Mfono

Nomkhitha Mfono is currently a Junior Manager at JP Morgan Worldwide Securities Services where she manages a team within the NAV pricing Space.

She has worked in the financial services industry for over 5 years.  Her career started at Future growth Asset Management as a trainee Compliance Auditor and has worked as a Fund accountant for State Street.  Prior to her current position she works as Business Analyst and Reporting Specialist (Hedge). 

Nomkhitha Mfono holds a B-tech Degree in Taxation from the Cape Peninsula University of technology.

   
Mr. Gakim Solomons
Gakim Solomons

Mr.  Gakim Solomons is currently a partner at a prominent mid market private equity firm in Johannesburg that focuses on investments in the non cyclical consumer goods space, serving on the board of African Pioneer Limited as an independent director.

After graduating from the University of Cape Town with a Degree in Accounting and Finance, Gakim spent a number of years at one of South Africa’s largest captive private equity funds where he garnered extensive experience in private equity and venture capital, also serving on numerous company boards and governance committees.
   
Tandisa Nkonki
Tandisa Nkonki
Company Secretary

Mrs. Tandisa Nkonki is a registered Accounting Officer.  She has over 10 years experience working for various companies.

She holds a Diploma in Accounting from Witwatersrand Technikon currently known as the University of Johannesburg.  She also has a certificate in taxation of individuals and companies from Unisa. 

She since joined African Pioneer Limited as a Financial Officer from running a Bookkeeping company based in Port Elizabeth.
